Okada Masaki to star in “Mirai Nikki” Drama Adaptation

Mah boy isn’t resting! He’s still starring in TV Asahi’s Seinaru Kaibutsutachi and now he has signed on to star in another drama. I am so happy for mah boy’s success but I am also concerned about his health. Boy is just 22! His list of dramas is astounding for a 22 year-old who wasn’t a child star. Woah, just woah. So proud. Anyway, the details on his new drama.

Okada Masaki will star in “Mirai Nikki – ANOTHER:WORLD-”, the drama adaptation of Esuno Sakae’s popular manga “Mirai Nikki” (“Future Diary”). The drama is an original story that differs from the manga, revolving around 12 people who obtain a future diary, which allows them to write down predictions of the future that will come true. However, they are all part of a survival game, wherein they must use their diaries to kill off each other and be the last one remaining, earning a place on the “God’s seat”.

Okada Masaki will play Hoshino Arata, a lazy college student who doesn’t believe in working toward the future. One day, he gets a future diary on his mobile phone and he gets involved in the game of survival. Broadcast is scheduled to start in April.

So basically, it’s Hunger Games + Death Note? Hahaha! Though there still wasn’t Hunger Games back then though the timing is impeccable. But yey for Masaki playing a role appropriate for his age! Anyway, so excited for this. I hope the ensemble cast will be good and I guess there will be 12 episodes or 13, one for each person who gets the diary.

Okada Masaki as a surgeon in upcoming drama, Seinaru Kaibutsutachi

Okada Masaki will star in TV Asahi’s newest Thursday offering, Seinaru Kaibutsutachi, as a rookie surgeon. And I reiterate, he is TOO YOUNG to be a doctor. And Japan surely loves casting him as a doctor (Dr. Black Jack and in GreeeeN’s PV). But aside from that little quip, I love this news! It’s surreal how he’s only 22 when his filmography’s very long. Hee, so proud of mah boy. Anyway, onto the news. Nakatani Miki was also starred as the female lead and a head nurse at the hospital he’s working at.

Seinaru Kaibutsutachi was originally a suspense novel by Kawahara Len. The drama has Okada playing Shiba Kengo, an earnest, hardworking and dedicated young surgeon. He gets transferred from a prestigious university hospital to a financially troubled one and there he meets a capable and cool-headed chief nurse Kasugai Yuka. She teaches him the reality of the medical world and Kengo must face various obstacles and challenges as he uncovers the true nature of respected professionals in the field.

Hasegawa Hiroki plays the manager of a major group that operates schools and Kato Ai plays his wife and the sister of Yuka. Rounding up the cast are Suzuki Anne, Omasa Aya, Katsumura Masanobu, Hirata Mitsuru, Kohinata Fumiyo and Watanabe Ikkei.

TV Asahi’s Seinaru Kaibutsutachi will air on Thursday nights at 9pm in January.

Antoki no Inochi starring Okada Masaki and Eikura Nana Trailer

Why am I only seeing this now? WHYYYYY? Anyway, here is the trailer. Two of my most favorite people in J-ent together. /giddy Masaki’s acting just keeps getting better with every project! That’s right, good job, ~mah boy~. <3 And the projects just keep coming! I think he hasn’t rested last 2010 and this 2011 because the number of movies he just did is insane! I am so proud! Onto the trailer, those tears and the way he just broke down. Then when he smiles, it’s as if it’s connected to my lips and mine also curve upwards. He seriously has a contagious smile. And I love it! And let’s not forget Nana who’s crying bucketloads too. When this girl cries, I cry too. I remember wailing while watching April Bride. *sobsob* Anyway, before I get too emotional (from pride and happiness for Masaki and from sadness due to April Bride), I’m gonna stop blabbering. Enjoy!

Koibumi ~Love Letter~ – GReeeeN PV starring Okada Masaki

Above is the shorter version of the music video (PV as the Japanese calls it) to GReeeeN‘s new song, Koibumi ~Love Letter~. It features Okada Masaki as a young doctor (yeap, he’s even too young to be a doctor) who has romantic feelings for his patient.

This new single from GReeeeN has been previously announced as the theme song for Okada Masaki and Eikura Nana‘s upcoming movie, Antoki no Inochi (Life Back Then). The movie is directed by Zeze Takahisa and won the Innovation Award in the 35th Montreal World Film Festival.  Antoki no Inochi is set to be released on November 19 on theaters.

The single Koibumi ~Love Letter~ will be released on November 16. Below is the longer version of the PV. That means… more Masaki! <3

Okada Masaki and Eikura Nana promoting Antoki no Inochi at the Tokyo International Film Festival

I love these two individually so it is just natural for me to love them together. Uhm, I’m sort of doubting that hairstyle on Masaki and what’s with the jacket but he still carries everything perfectly. I think I miss long-haired Nana. I dunno why but I love her long hair as Erika in ProDai. Not that I don’t love her Mei-chan hair since I love that drama to bits. (Mizushima Hiro, I miss you SO MUCH. HUHU) Anyway, credit goes to tokyograph for the pictures!

Okada Masaki casted in Live-Action Movie Adaptation of Himitsu no Akko-chan

Okada Masaki was casted as the male lead to the live-action movie adaptation of the manga, Himitsu no Akko-chan, a classic manga by Akatsuka Fujio. It was first published in 1962 and will celebrate it’s 50th anniversary next year.

Ayase Haruka was also casted as the lead. (Actually, it was more of Ayase was casted but I made Okada the highlight of this article. Haha!) Himitsu no Akko-chan tells the story of an elementary school student, Kagami Atsuko, who receives a magical compact mirror that lets her transform into anything she wants. The film will be an original story in which she turns into a 22-year old woman, in a variety of roles such as a figure skater, police, cabin attendant, office worker, bike racer and many more. Okada plays her first love, an elite salaryman.

Filming starts this October and the movie is slated to release on September 2012. Directing the movie is Kawamura Yasuhiro.

Canon Pixus releases CMs with Okada Masaki and Ashida Mana

CMs for CANON PIXUS with Okada Masaki and Ashida Mana finally aired! Yey! These two are so cute! Masaki <3 The two play special researchers finding the answer to the question “Can printers make people smart?”. The CMs come in three versions – “PIXUS Inspection. Smart people’s black!“, “Family Friendly White!“, and “An Adult’s Bronze!”

Antoki no Inochi Wins at 35th Montreal World Film Festival

Zeze Takahisa’s Antoki no Inochi (Life Back Then) won the Innovation Award in the 35th Montreal World Film Festival. The film stars Okada Masaki and Eikura Nana. The story revolves around Nagashima Kyohei (Okada), who works for a small company whose job is to look through, sort and dispose articles of the deceased. He meets Kubota Yuki (Eikura), who helps him with his work. Nagashima, who locked up his heart due to an incident during his high school days, slowly opens up to her until one day he discovers her shocking past. Antoki no Inochi will open in Japanese theaters on November 19.

So proud of Masaki! He absolutely chooses the best projects out there. Either they win awards or they rake in money and/or fans. He hasn’t done a movie that has failed. Matataki (Piecing Me Back Together) has been in the top 10 movies in Japan for several weeks within its opening. More power to Masaki! <3

Happy 22nd Birthday, Okada Masaki!

HAPPY 22ND BIRTHDAY TO MAH BOY, OKADA MASAKI!

(And yes, he’s mine. XD HAHAHA!) 

Around four years ago, back in 2007, I saw him in Hana Kimi and immediately loved him. Which a few years later, will make me do a rash decision of putting up a tumblog dedicated to him. Therefore, it is very obvious how much I love this guy. Back then, he was just the ikemen Sekime or the Gundam guy. But now, four years after that, he has headlined tons of dramas and movies. Do you need me to enumerate? Might as well just check his DramaWiki page. He has also done tons of CFs, even one with Ken Watanabe. And just this year, he again has an onslaught of movies coming up. There is no stopping this guy to be the top star of his generation. He is certainly the “It” star in Japan, also proven by tons of surveys. He just gets you with his earnest look and how can someone resist this eyecandy? He has starred with Aoi Yuu, Inoue Mao, Kitagawa Keiko and a lot more female leads. And can you believe he’s just 22? Even I who knows he’s just 22 is shocked at the success he’s basking in now. Makes me feel so unaccomplished. Haha! I hope things will just get better for ~mah boy~ from this moment on. I do wish he perm his hair more. Haha! I love curly Masaki. <3
